I've been secretly browsing this forum for ages so thought it's about time i introduce myself (and cos it seems a bit quiet in here).
I'm glassy, currently 24, from Sydney, Australia, studying law at uni. I'm Chinese, born in Australia and have lived here ever since. I can speak fluent English, Cantonese, and can communicate okay in Mandarin. I can also read chinese, partly due to following Michelle news over the years.
I've been a fan of Michelle since 2002 (11 years and counting!). I used to be quite active in 'Michelle Ye Little House' and 'Michelle Ye Discussion Forum (cinple forums)' back in the days before it was closed. The first time i saw her was in Gods of Honour, i thought she was pretty cute and stood out from the other female characters. The second time i saw her was in Eternal Happiness, she portrayed the character so well that got me interested. So i looked her up online and found out about her life. What's so attractive about her is her hard work, dedication and motivation. Also, she is just so smart! She lived by herself at such a young age but was able to perform well above other kids her age. She became my inspiration and role model because of all the things she achieved as a teenager and throughout high school, i made her educational achievements my goal. Sadly, i didn't perform quite as well as she did but ALMOST there! (Was not first of the class in high school, but third. Did not get a full scholarship to university but a part scholarship).
So i am very glad to have watched the series that i did and got to know of her existence. Because without her, i probably wouldn't have done as well in school and my chinese would never be as good!
I'm hoping one day i can meet Michelle and get her to autograph my copy of her autobiography
I've been to New York twice (love that place) and i can't help but think, "this is where Michelle used to live, Michelle would've walked here before etc..." every time i'm there. Especially when i see the brooklyn train, go to chinatown and walk past the NY public library.
Finally, this is the only English forum/website that is still open after Michelle left TVB so i'm very grateful for all the admins who still work to keep this place alive. Yes, there are many mainland chinese sites around but an English site just feels so much better!
