Venice Film Festival has been considered as one of the world's three major film festivals. Yesterday (07/30), it announced the 66th Venice Film Festival short list of 23 films that will compete for the Golden Lion award - the highest honor of the competition.

Only two Chinese-language films successfully made the cut - one is Louis Koo, Richie Ren starring action thriller 'Accident', directed by Cheng Poi Shui; the other is the Taiwan and Hong Kong co-production, Yang Fan directed 'Prince of Tears'.

The 66th Venice Film Festival will run from September 2nd to 12th. Well-known director Ang Lee is the chairman of international jury. The Golden Lion award will be presented on the last day of the festival.

'Accident" executive producer Johnnie To yesterday accepted the interview, stated that Cheng Poi Shui and he both mutually trust on the outstanding performances of Louis, Richie Ren and Michelle Ye. He's confident they have successfully created a very good film. Louis enthusiastically shared his excitement of this nomination. Louis also said he will try finding time to attend the film festival.

Johnnie To believes Louis has a high chance to become the movie king. The reporters relayed it to Louis and asked if he's confident of becoming this year winner, Louis honestly related that this film was made for over one-and-a half-year long but it's all worthy. Louis is grateful to Johnnie To's high approval but thinks it's actually depended greatly on jury's favor.
