I think it was better if she hadnt left tvb coz i really liked her partnership wit lots of the tvb male actor ecsp Raymond lam. Although she did become kinda famous when she sighns the contract wit atv. Really want her to return to tvb one day. ;D

Hi rM fAn88! In case I haven’t officially welcomed you to MYR, WECOME! I’m the welcoming committee, in case you haven’t notice…hehe Okay all of us are, but I'm the most enthusiastic! I’m so glad that you have been more active on the board lately. MYR has lots of visitors, however lots of our members are shy. So I really appreciate you participating.
Okay so back to the topic….
I agree with you that I like her partnerships with many TVB actors and actresses. I also miss her being in TVB series. Although TVB's plots have gone downhill somewhat, I still prefer TVB over other types of companies. I just like their style of filming and I'm just more familiar with their actors/actresses...right down to their extras. So for me it's more about familiarity. TVB likes to re-use many of the same artists over and over, so for me it’s like watching someone you know.
If I were to speak selfishly, not thinking about Michelle personal career, of course I would like her to stay with TVB. Afterall, TVB series is what I watch the most. I barely watch other companies series or movies. TVB series always get released in Vietnamese to the U.S. Michelle being in series, enables me to see her on-screen more and partner up with artists I like. The only reason why I liked Michelle in the first place was b/c she was in a TVB series. But if you look it in her perspective, meaning like in a career progression, she made a good choice.
Having all that said, to answer your question if it was best for Michelle to leave TVB, I would have to scream YES! First I would like to state that Michelle is NOT signed with ATV, but she is contracted with Rich & Famous (Media Asia).
Why do I say yes? Well…
1. It has been a dream of Michelle to film movies. (Media Asia is a huge film industry)
2. When Media Asia offers you a contract, who can resists? (huge pay increase, opportunities to work with renowned directors and veteran/legendary artists)
3. A chance to appear on the big screen.
4. Freedom to work on other projects. Think of Michelle as a freelance artist, if her schedules fit, she can film series for other companies, such ATV’s Central Affairs or I-Cable’s tutor Queen. She can also do more functions and sponsorships.
5. More leisure time. I read that majority of TVB stars only get an average of 2-4 hours of sleep a night. Michelle said she gets at least 8 hours of sleep a night. She also has more time to do her hobbies like hiking.
6. TVB politics is horrible. It’s like a war zone. You never know if you will be promoted or when you will be kicked off the throne. Also, the battle b/t artist’s fans is almost ridiculous. The war of the words is even more unreasonable. All this talk of whose the better artist, who is under promoted, comparisons, etc, is so unnecessary and mean.
7. Media Asia is currently giving Michelle many opportunities. Michelle seems to do be doing well and winning the appreciation of her fellow colleges and production team. I can’t wait for her first movie female lead with Louis Koo!
I’m happy that Michelle left TVB. Michelle has grown so much professionally and she is a rising star. I hope she will be a huge movie star soon! In my opinion Michelle is in a whole different playing field. She shouldn’t be compared to TVB artists anymore. Filming movies and series is a lot more different than most realize. So I’m glad she’s not bashed on as much anymore or at least the haters are more quiet. Over the years, she has earned a few respect from some of those haters. But I know she still has haters, but at least they are less or more quiet. To those haters that said Michelle would fail or just end up doing porn, they can just EAT THEIR WORDS now…lol. Okay that was immature.
Anyways, these are my personal reasons and opinions of why it was a good idea for her to leave. I know I also went off topic a bit. This is just my two cents and I didn’t mean to offend or type this long for that matter. Sorry for ranting.
Kim! First u take over my 'welcoming officer' title, then u say all the lines i want to say... haha
Anyway, yes, welcom rM fAn88, thanks for being active in this forum, which certainly could use it.
Best for her if she left tvb or not? - to your question, yes, both personal perspective and from her perspective.
Personal perspective: Being selfish , if she goes big or even just average in movies, she will be doing lots of promotion overseas, most of which will be M'sia / Spore (most HK movies are promoted here), so my chances of seeing her increases haha... But I don't deny that I appreciate her doing series every now and then because then i get to watch more screen time (more episodes) of her...
Her perspective: Definitely best for her to leave, it was not an opportunity everyone get, also it was her dream, and she is doing very well now, she did not fail terribly as most said she would, in fact I think she should be the only one who can be this successful after tha change of contract. I cannot see anyone else be half as successful if they did the same thing, this she has to (and she is) thank Wong Jing's recommendation, with that it was almost easier for her to be recognized by others in league such as Alan Mak, Johnny To, etc.
~Because light travels faster than sound, people usually appear smart until they speak~
~While light travels faster than sound, rumors travel faster than light~
Hate to question her motives, but film making rakes in more dollars than series making. Unless she is the lead actress in a movie, she should stay with TVB. Taking a new perspective in acting such as movies can expand her skills as an actress.
Well, it's not a bad thing because leaving TVB means you have more freedom but being at TVB once feels safe too and as for Michelle I think leaving TVB can lead her to explore different fields in the entertainment showbiz. Overall is a good choice for her. I don't really like to watch TVB now, I think they have downgraded their storyline, it is not interesting as they used to. However I still watch some when I have a lot of free time.
She shouldn't have left tvb just now. She should have done it when she gained more popularity from it or something like that. If she stayed on tvb, she would have been given alot of series and opportunity. Once one of her series is a hit and she is more popular she should consider goin to the movie industry.
