'Duk Lung Jun Ce', a highly skilled martial arts master left Midlands for the Snake Island alone. Once while practicing his martial arts, he overstated his powers and lost charge of himself. Before dying, he instructed his adopted orphan disciple, Gum Sai Wai (Raymond Lam) to return to the Midlands and hand his secret letter to Mong San clan's person in charge, Lui Sei Liong. Gum Sai Wai thus left the Snake Island with much grief. The moment Gum Sai Wai set his foot on Midlands, it had marked the turn around point in his life…
Gum Sai Wai first met Lai Seng Nam (Michelle Ye), who was on a mission to kill three men but was halted by Gum Sai Wai. Due to his rugged clothing, Gum Sai Wai who first came to Midlands was mistaken to be the disciple of the Beggars clan, and was dragged into the misunderstandings of Shaolin and Beggars clans. Sai Mun Muk Ye under the command of Emperor Chin Lung was instructed to destroy the unity of the several Martial Arts clans' community. Thus, Sai Mun Muk Ye sent an undercover killer, Lai Seng Nam to stir disputes between the two clans.
Besides that, Kong Nam (Power Chan) who has always wanted to learn martial arts followed the Shaolin troupe. At the same time, the adorable girl of Piu Ying dart bureau, Lei Sam Mui, also went to the gathering for some fun without her parents' knowledge.
Gum Sai Wai who has not much knowledge of the outside world accidentally revealed his high level of martial arts at the gathering, and also met with the inner disciple of Mong San clan, Kuk Ji Wah (Rain Li). Kong Nam insisted on learning martial arts from Gum Sai Wai, while Lei Sam Mui adored him as her prince charming.
Gum Sai Wai is born innocent and knows not of love relationship, impressing Kuk Ji Wah as she got to know him more, and fell in love without realizing it… On the other hand, Lai Seng Nam wanted to pay back Gum Sai Wai for interrupting her mission, but also helped him along the way as he searched the aid of Lui Sei Liong to overcome the inner strength of his that may lead to the same lost charge fate his master suffered. She also got closer to Gum Sai Wai, covering her true identity to ease her mission. His sincerity and naivety overwhelmed her and before she realized it, her emotion has already moved for him…
Lui Sei Liong passed away after taming the wild inner strength of Gum Sai Wai and passed on her position to Kuk Ji Wah. Unfortunately, Kuk Ji Wah was mistaken by other Mong San disciples to have caused the death of their master, and thus was kicked out of the clan. Kuk Ji Wah was consoled by Gum Sai Wai and promised to spend their days together. Lai Seng Nam was jealous of their relationship and thus tried her best to come in between them.
While searching for a martial arts manuscript wanted by all, Gum Sai Wai and Lai Seng Nam arrived to the Fire Mountain Island after Seng Nam tricked Sai Wai into believing that Ji Wah has left for the island. As much as Sai Wai was annoyed when he found out, he just could not suppress his care for her. During their search, Seng Nam met with her only family members left after a cold murder that left her an orphan many years ago. Due to the manuscript being the secret treasure of the Lai family, her uncle wanted to kill Gum Sai Wai to prevent outsiders knowing their secrets. As they had no other choice, Seng Nam suggested 'marriage' as their only way out. Just as they got the manuscript, Mang San Tong arrived with Kuk Ji Wah as his hostage in exchange for the manuscript. A heated battle left Sai Wai and Seng Nam badly injured while Mang San Tong left with an unconscious Kuk Ji Wah, who later suffered temporary amnesia.
Seng Nam sacrificed her last strength to revive Sai Wai, refusing to leave him behind even though he could kill her anytime his inner strength goes wild. They spent three happy months on the island, but while Seng Nam had no intentions to return to Midlands at all, Sai Wai could not forget Ji Wah who was caught by Mang San Tong. Seng Nam knew she could not have Sai Wai to herself although they're both on the island and finally agreed to return to Midlands with him to save Ji Wah.
Seng Nam discovered Mang San Tong to be the murderer of her family many years ago and vowed to revenge. However, Ji Wah also discovered that he was her father and saved him many times, causing the misunderstanding between Ji Wah and Seng Nam to be even deeper. Sai Wai took by the side of Ji Wah several times, hurting Seng Nam deeply. Sai Wai also became extremely mad when he found out Seng Nam's true identity as the underground killer for Sai Mun Muk Ye and slapped her, breaking her heart. Despite so, she still loved him so much that she gave her life in return for the assurance of his safety from Sai Mun Muk Ye. She managed to trick him into marrying her, her last wish before her death, while Sai Wai never realized a thing until the last moment before her eyelids shut forever and regretting it bitterly later on. He finally realized his true love, but time was no longer in his favor…
