Directed by Felix Cheung, and mega production of Media Asia Films 'Once a Gangster' is holding tis premier in Hong Kong. Main cast, Ekin Cheng, Jordan Chan comes together again after ten years, where their roles undergo a subversive exchange, while Michelle Ye takes the role 'Siu Git Ba' in place of Gigi Leung in the past.
Thirteen years back, the 'Triad Society' theme movies have once warmed the blood of youngsters of the generation; thirteen years later, Ekin Cheng and Jordan Chan will once again return to their 'original profession', meanwhile 'Siu Git Ba' played by Gigi Lai back then is take over by new talent of the movie industry, Michelle Ye. At the premier, Michelle smiled saying she loved watching the 'triad society' movies during her younger days, 'Naam Go' and 'San Gai' are her idols from the early years, but back then she never thought that she will be acting together with her idols in 'Gangster', also expressing that in the ten years that has passed, Ekin and Jordan's appeal is no less than before, and in fact is even more admired these days.
In comparison to the 'Gangster' of the earlier days, 'Once a Gangster' is no longer bloody, and is in fact the humorous version of the story before. What is more significant is that, Ekin Cheng and Jordan Chan has an exchange in role, where Ekin plays 'Saan Gai' while Jordan plays 'Naam Go', and plays a pair of husband and wife with 29th HKFA Best Supporting Actress award winner, Michelle Ye, where the two will be married with children. Michelle's role will be a succession of Gigi Lai's iconic 'Siu Git Ba' role, is a forthrightly sexy gangster mother, she appears very loud and tough on the surface, yet is delicate enough to point out the issue in a meeting of the triad society. Although yet ever acted in 'Gangster' movie, Michelle's performance this time is highly praised by director Felix Cheung and the two male leads, saying that HKFA award winner is definitely deservingly awarded to those with skills. However, Michelle humbly mention that it is easier for her to absorb into the movie as she loved watching 'Gangster' movies during her younger days.
